Obviously some hotel bedrooms are so luxurious and opulent they just make your own bedroom seem pretty sad. So I want you to remember all the hotels you’ve stayed in over the years and which luxury features you really enjoyed – because I am going to share tips with you on how to recreate that look. (P.S. the photo above is from the Four Seasons Prague)

Wainscoting is pretty inexpensive so feel free to use it on the lower level of your wall and you can either keep it the same color as you paint the wall or you can paint it a contrasting color (white is many people’s favorite, but you could choose 2 shades lighter or darker than the wall color to anchor the room and give it cohesiveness)

To save money buy a chandelier at a second hand store or an estate/garage sale you can score a great deal and don’t worry many chandeliers have shades that you can replace if old/ugly or you can remove them altogether. Draperies can be very expensive so go ahead and buy the fabric at a fabric store and then make your own or take them to your local seamstress / alteration shop (many dry cleaners have these services this will save a you a lot of money because draperies can be expensive for large windows and come in limited colors.

In order to replicate a luxury hotel you need either an upholstered chair, bench or chaise in the room. These are perfect for dressing, laying out ones clothes for the next day, or for reading. Either way to save the most $ go ahead and purchase an old chair/chaise and reupholster it. If you have a bigger budget feel free to buy a chair (sometimes dining room chairs are cheaper you could add nail heads to give it some customization).

Upholstered Headboards – need I say more upholstered headboards are in most of luxurious hotel suites around the world. Depending on your budget you may or may not be able to afford one, so if you have a good budget feel free to look online and in stores make sure to take pictures and compare them before making any purchase.

For those with more limited budgets consider making your own upholstered headboard – no you don’t need a fancy shape its the upholstery that will make it feel luxurious. Check out these videos below.
