It’s Complicated kitchen

I was looking to share some tips on how to create your favorite kitchen when I came across this photo (one of several – it may look familiar to you if you saw the movie It’s Complicated with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin). Some of the items are available and you can check at more photos of the kitchen here

Here’s my suggestions for making a “Not Complicated” kitchen designed around your needs & budget

  • Know your style – this is a room if you enjoy cooking and entertaining at home that you will spend time in
  • It’s okay to like color – see my post here
  • When on a limited budget choose items that can be both functional and decorative
  • Small kitchens don’t have to mean white walls and white cabinets (just go for uniformity)
  • Maximize the entire wall go as close to the ceiling with cabinetry as possible
  • In small spaces opt for “appliance panels” so you have a more uniform look and less break-up in cabinetry lines
  • Make sure to have adequate lighting – in an ideal world every kitchen would have a big, beautiful window with a gorgeous view, or at least a door to outside with a window in it, in reality not all kitchens do so install LED lighting under wall cabinetry

So tell me what is your favorite “movie kitchen”
