WebSites You Should Know About But Probably Don’t

In Beauty, Fashion, Hair, House & Yard, Life, Life @ Home, Make-up, Skincare, Urban Dweller on July 24, 2012 at 9:55 am

Here’s some websites that aren’t quite famous yet (ala Amazon and Ebay)  but I thought that it might interest you and if you shop online (like I do regularly i LOVE Amazon) you too will be happy to have extra sites to check out. I have found personally that some of my local stores don’t carry X brand and so I have to resort to online or that the cost even with shipping is sometimes cheaper. I also wanted to share this for another reason if you have ever known anybody homebound you know they will appreciate it regardless of their age (whether is a new mommy or an elderly grandparent – they will feel a level of independence by being able to shop at home for themselves) also there’s some great deals which I LOVE to share (who couldn’t use a great deal in this economy)

Casa – for all things home

Wag – lets be honest where would we be without our pets? I lost my pet of 14 years not too long ago and so I hope to get a pet again very soon)  – Free shipping on ALL orders over $49 and deliveries are very quickly (p.s. this place has stuff for a lot more than dogs)

Soap – Here’s everything you ever ran out of the house for and made that extra errand because you forgot. All products are delivered in 1-2 days for FREE!

Beauty Bar – For all of us who love to shop for skincare, make up, men, fragrances, & natural products. 3 FREE samples with every order!

YoYo – Just as the name implies this is a site all about Toys

Diapers – Yes Diapers.com for all you parents out there has everything to do with the babies in your life (I highly recommend this also for grand parents, aunts, uncles, etc. Huge variety and might I add its easy to go online to Babies R Us and compare prices to get the best deals) Free shipping on $49 or above

I really hope you enjoy this list the above websites are all part of Quidsi a Latin term for “What If” – these 6 wesbites allow you to checkout with 1 shopping cart and save money by shopping 2 sites or more and Spend $39  you earn Free Shipping.

Also If your a NEW customer to these sites there is a banner with a code to save 10% at Checkout!  Plus the fixed banner has other specials advertised (like today as I type this Soap.com has 10% off purchases for 1st and 2nd time buyers just type in the appropriate code at checkout!)

Face Cleansing Wipes

Many people love to use face wipes in lieu of a wash cloth there are many uses for them but its hard to find ones that leave the skin clean, residue free and yet remove all traces of makeup, oil, and dirt. If your wondering which brand too use or maybe you’ve tried a few and are still looking for the one that best suits you – well look no further than the Simone France Disposable Cleansing Cloths, these babies remove everything and if your wondering there are many ways to use them. I personally recommend using them if you go to the gym or after any workout because you can remove all the oil and sweat preventing clogged pores and breakouts.

Another reason they’re great is they have no product on them so if you love the skincare your presently using you don’t have to give it up. Here are some easy uses for these to save you some time: wash face at night with these and a mild cleanser to remove all the day’s dirt/oil/makeup. Use these with eye makeup remover to swipe over the eyes and remove all eye makeup without tugging on the delicate skin. Looking for another use, go ahead and put some toner on the cloth and wipe all over your face you’ll be surprised what comes off (even on clean skin). I love that they are so easy to travel with the cloths are small enough to pack and don’t take up much space, but provide an amazing job when your on the go.

If you need to stretch your budget then here are some suggestions: I will tell you right now these cloths can be used more than once (for those of you wondering) after washing with the cloth just rinse it out under warm water. I can get 3-4 uses if I am not removing heavy eye makeup. Another solution I have heard is to cut it in half some people then get double the amount of cloths essentially.

Share with me do you use cleansing cloths?

Best Mascara

I admit it I love shopping for skin care and makeup, however I also love finding makeup that works time and time again and that I will keep in my repertoire. However, I am still on the search for the BEST mascara. So, I am turning to you I am hoping you will share with me what your favorite mascara is. The most important thing to me is that the mascara doesn’t flake, run, or smear (I don’t need any raccoon eyes during the day). I have actually worn 7 different mascaras this past week – I put on a new one every morning and left on until bed, but I am still hoping to find a new that I will like  so please share a comment with me on which brand you use.

Thanks

Make up Brushes

Makeup brushes, most girls use them at some point whether its for foundation, blush, bronzer, concealer, shadow, you know the routine ladies… so now is a good time to talk about these makeup brushes. First, of all never buy makeup brushes that use animal hair – its just cruel.

I am sharing some Eco-friendly beauty brushes today, these are made of synthetic materials not animal fur (too many animals are captured & murdered each year at fur farms for the use in makeup brushes) no to mention who the hell ever thought animal fur was hygienic to be using in coordination with makeup anyways – (Can you say germs and bacteria) – gross!

Very few things in life are better synthetic than natural but brushes are one of them, synthetic brushes are easier to keep clean, have less shedding of strands in the brush, and don’t cause additional problems with your skin. Plus there are so many brands to choose from in everyone’s price point.

Here are makeup brushes that are vegan approved / cruelty free.

Please remember you don’t have to be a vegan to buy this brushes for yourself or others, its just doing the right thing.

Also, here is a list of brushes I have come across myself that are cruelty free:

You can check out these prior posts if you missed them here   That’s it for now, but if you use another company please post a comment I along with other readers would love to hear about it.

Getting Rid of Grey Hair

In Make-up, Skincare on January 2, 2012 at 1:21 pm

Gray Hairs – there so annoying, and their cause (hereditary, diet, stress) you name it they can come for many reasons but its getting rid of them that is more mysterious

While, presently there has been NO actual scientific research and evidence to support that you can reverse or stop grey hair you maybe able to control the underlying causes to your premature grey hairs. -

Maybe its your body’s way of exposing an underlying lack of nutrients- who knows but here are some possible nutrients you might want to take and see if they work for you.

1) Maybe your Copper deficient there has been suggestion that a lack of copper in ones diet can lead to graying of the hair – so take a copper supplement and make sure to incorporate foods in your diet that are rich in copper

2) Bee Pollen Supplement (Obviously don’t take this if your allergic to bees or any bee products) – this is more preventative against gray hairs

3) Go on- give KELP or SeaWeed a try its often found that some of the most powerful resources are from the sea

4) Wheat Grass – has been considered by some to help them restore color to their gray heads (if you do not like the taste,  or  have the time to make wheat grass to at home,  try these capsules

5) Try making yourself a Green Smoothie – many people have found that incorporating a Green Smoothie daily into their diet has a huge impact on both their health and gray hair. Its the nutrition in Green Smoothies that help reverse many peoples’ gray heads. – I am not saying you have to choose a “vegan” or “raw” lifestyle as there are many who will never adopt these eating habits and that is a personal preference; however you can go online and search “Green Smoothie Recipes” and find plenty of recipes to jot down and purchase the items at your grocery store – and you will only need 1 blender something you probably already have in your home

6) Try a supplement that may be created specifically for Gray Hair – I have read testimonials and though I can’t vouch for this product some people have had amazing results.  Here is the Link and if your budget permits or it is of interest to you try it out.

Okay, so I hope my list has helped you, and that there is a solution here to fit every ones budget. Please, if you try any of these solutions above keep us posted with your comments and feedback below!

Always consult a physician or your medical practitioner before starting, or taking any supplements.

These brushes are by bdellium and are vegan & Eco-friendly. They retail for $35.53 + $4.99 S/H

You can purchase a complete set (like the one above) or individual brushes. Purchase your brushes here

Here is Eco-Tools makeup brushes, they retail online at Drugstore. com for $11.04

However, many stores now carry them so pick them up in person & save on the shipping. (I have seen them in my local Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, & where I purchased mine at Bed Bath & Beyond).

Many of us wear makeup daily, but few think about “greening” their beauty routine. While some of us are aware of ingredients to avoid in skincare and makeup often there are things in our daily routine which we overlook.

I am sharing some Eco-friendly beauty brushes today, these are made of synthetic materials not animal fur (too many animals are captured & murdered each year for the use in makeup brushes) no to mention who the hell ever thought animal fur was hygienic to be using in coordination with makeup anyways!
